28 Retirements After Damage
A faultless, heavy-wea-ther display won the national R Class champion crew, G. S. Mander and A. M. Holland, of the Canterbury Yacht Club, the Irene Stacey trophy at Lyttelton on Saturday. Their only challenge in the race, one of the premier, championship dinghy event* in the yachting calendar, came from A. W. Shield* and B. R. Marriott who finished second after co polling TwenAy-eight of the 39 yachts which started in races at Lyttelton on Saturday were damaged and retired.
