EXEMPT FROM INCOME TAX

Sumner Lifeboat Donations

Donations of up to £25 in any one year made to the Sumner Lifeboat Institute can be deducted for the purposes of income tax exemption. Advice to this effect has been received by the president of the institute and M.P. for Lyttelton, Mr N. E. Kirk, from the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Mr F. R Macken).

• Money is at present being raised by the institute for the replacement of the Sumner lifeboat.

Under legislation passed last year individuals are allowed deductions of up to £25 yearly for income tax purposes for their donations to non-profit, charitable, benevolent, philanthropic or cultural purposes.
