“No Backing From Master Builders" (N.Z. Press Association) DARGAVILLE. Feb. S. “This statement is not correct,” said Mr C. Witten today referring to a report from Auckland that a wage agreement between the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd., and the Carpenters’ Urxion had the backing of the Auckland Master Builders’ Association. Mr Witten, who is president of the Northland branch of the Auckland Master Builders' Association, said the agreement was only between Fletchers and the union. “The wage rate paid is the employers’ prerogative and has no recommendation or backing from the association,” he said, “Bt la a private agreement.” The new minimum rate is 8s 4d an hour for members of the Auckland branch of the Carpenters’ Plasterers’ and Rooftilens’ Union em-
