MR BECKETT’S WORK

Progress League Tribute

A tribute to the work of the Canterbury Public Relations Officer (Mr E. G. Beckett) was paid by the president (Mr B. J. Drake) at a meeting of the Canterbury Progress League last evening. Mr Beckett resigned from his position last month, but is remaining until a successor is found.

Mr Beckett’s place would be very hard to fill, Mr Drake said. One could not gauge the value of his work simply in material terms, for the results of his five years were spread all over the world. “The very nature of public relations is probably not to stay in one place for too long, but during his term Mr Beckett has established a most amazing and impressive list of achievements."
