Prams On Buses

Sir,—l have read with interest previous correspondence dealing with regulation prams on Christchurch Transport Board buses. It appeared that for various reasons known only to the Transport Board that certain regulations were necessary. It appals me on arriving home from work for my wife to relate how she was required to stand holding a 16-months-old baby (271 b approximately) in Cathedral square at the convenience of bus drivers. My wife alighted at

the aquare and wag required to wait aeveral minutes while money collection bootee were changed and freah driver’s taken on. Onlv at the conclusion of thia “play” was the push chair removed from the bus. My wife is at present eight months pregnant—Yours, etc, POUND FOR POUND. January 15, 1963.

FairddH. general manager of the Transport Board. “Unfortunately the writer has not given any date, time or route, in which this incident occurred and it is therefore not possible to take it up with the operator concerned. It is respectfully suggested that if the complaint had been lodged in accordance with the terms of the employees’ award, namely in writing addressed to the general manager, within 46 hours of the incident the matter could be fully invesbigaited and a reply sent to the comptacnant.”] > j
