TALLOW IN BULK
Success Of Experiment Regular bulk Shipments of tallow will probably be made from Timaru after the successful loading on Tuesday of the first bulk tallow shipment from the South Island. Company officiate were pleased with tlhe result of the experiment, which involved transporting the heated tallow in insulated tankers by road and pumping it into a tank on board the Hiauraka for shipment tn Liverpool. Although the tallow lost five degrees of heart on the trip, it was st®! liquid and could be pumped. It will be adlowed to cool but will be heated towards the end of the voyage to enable it tn be pumped ashore. A second tank on the Haiurakii will be filled with tallow from a Southland freezing works. The Empire Forwarding Company, Ltd., of Invercargill, had two articulated units and trailer equipped in Christchurch for bulk tallow transport.
