A SCENE IN KING EDWARD BARRACKS WHICH WILL BE REPEATED on February 16, when a choral and orchestral concert will be given in the presence of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. This photograph was taken on March 17, 1951, during a performance of Handel’s “Messiah” by the combined Christchurch choral societies and the National Orchestra as part of the Canterbury Centennial Music Festival. There was an attendance of about 5000. Next month’s Royal concert will be under the direction of the Christchurch Civic Music Council.
