Vietnam ‘Dirty Little War’
(NJ! P. A.-Reuter— Copyright) SAIGON. January 21. The United States Army Chief of Staff (General Earle G. Wheeler) yesterday praised the bravery of American military men serving in South Vietnam’s “dirty little war” After pinning a Distinguished Flying Cross on a helicopter pilot. Chief Warrant Officer Joseph M Mikel for carrying out a rescue mission under heavy guerrilla fire, the general said: “It takes a special brand of courage to do what you men are doing here every day. This is a dirty little war It is not like anything we saw at Normandy or Inchon.”
