INDUSTRIES FAIR

New Hours Set This Year

Plans are already being made by the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association for its 1963 New Zealand Industries Fair from August 16 to August 31. An important change for this year's fair will be to its hours The fair will be open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on week-days, instead of from 10 ajn to 10 pm. as formerly. On Saturdays, the customary hours. 10 a.m. to 10 pm. will be retained The change of hours was confirmed when the association’s council held its first meeting of the year last evening

The altered hours will enable working exhibits to be more easily manned. and they have been prompted by th« need to stage a greater number of exhibits showing processes of manufacture. An export trade court will be a feature of the fair It has been planned to show the wide variety of New Zealand goods now being exported Good design in the staging of exhibits will be encouraged by the issue of a certificate of merit for the most notable stand in three classes of exhibit: static, animated, and working displays. The entertainment programme. an arts and craft section. and amusements for children, are other aspects of the fair already under consideration by the association's fair executive.
