Situation.—-A cold front is moving away to the east of the North Island and an intense anti-cyclone over the Tasman Sea is moving eastwards. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Fresh southerly winds, becoming moderate in the afternoon; scattered showers this morning; partly cloudy later; cool temperatures. Marlborough.—Strong and slowly decreasing southerly winds with cloudy skies and a few light showers about the Sounds and the Kaikoura coast; elsewhere light to moderate easterly winds with partly cloudy weather; cool temperatures but rising .in Central Marlborough.

Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds, easterlies predominating; partly cloudy with mild day temperatures. Outlook.—AU districts: partly cloudy.
