Frenchwoman In Antarctic
The first. Frenchwoman to visit the Antarctic is a member of the summer party at the French brae, Dumont d’Urville, in Adelie Land She is Miss Christine Gillet. head of toe technical bureau of the French Polar expedition organisation. Miss Gillet was in the Arctic in 1958, 1960 and 1960.
Thirty French scientists and technicians arrived at Dumont d'Urville early last month in the Danish pour exploration ship. Mana Dan. Miss Gillet will leave the base about the end of this month when toe Magga Dan returns to Hobart with toe summer party. Nineteen men will remain during toe winter.
