Hare, of Wellington, was a clear leader with 10 points after the first six rounds of the New Zealand draughts championships which started in Wellington today. Points at the end of the first day’s play were: M. Hare 10, R. Prince (Wanganui), T. Gilhooly (TWuranga), R. Jaffe (Auckland) 8; T. Leatham (Wellington), R. Noonan (Wellington), 71; G. Hadlee (Umaru), A. Hestich (Auckland) 7; D. Lowery (Wellington) 6), T. Williamson (Wellington) *.
