Two precision particle spectrometers, a Buechner spectrograph crystal, solid state, gas and emulsion detec- . tors with associated multichannel recording equipment are available for use with these machines. An IBM 1620 computer is available for data reduction. The main fields of work are in nuclear structure studies. Superannuation is on the FJSS.U. pattern. Reasonable travel expenses are paid, and assistance with housing is provided. In addition to the posts referred to above, a number of scholarships is available for men who have completed a M.Sc. degree or who have had outstanding results in their Honours B-Sc. examinations. The scholarships are tenable for two or three years, and the basic allowance is £950 per annum; married scholars with dependent children may be granted an additional allowance of £3lO per annum in respect of the first child and a further £9O per annum for each other child.
