Fined £100 For Bookmaking

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 10. It was unlucky for Rongomate Paul Lewis, aged 34. a chamman, that he used < txscene language when a constable found him lying in a shop doorway in Molesworth street last night. He was arrested and searched and found in possession of betting material which cost him a fine of £lOO for bookmaking in the Magistrate's Court today. Lewis was also fined £l2 10s for using obscene,language in a public place. Mr J. A. Wicks, S.M., ordered him to pay £lO 10s costs on each charge to both of which he pleaded guilty.
