TWO CARS IN ONE
Auckland Man’s Construction "The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, Jan. 11. An odd-looking car in Auckland this week gave little clue to which was the front and which the back.
Consisting of two old cars that had been chopped in half and then joined back-to-back, it is owned by Mr John Roberts, aged 27, now living in Mount Eden. Auckland. It is painted red. Mr Roberts, a South African by birth, built it while he was in Dipton, near Invercargill
The working end of the car is a 1929 Chrysler. The other end belongs to a 1932 Dodge. Mr Roberts bought the Chrysler for only £3O. The Dod. e was a gift from a farmer who was tired of seeing it rusting in his paddock. After slicing them neatly in half, Mr Roberts welded the sections and placed a smote stack for exhaust fumes m the centre. The interior is almost identical in both halves—steering
wheels, instruments, etc., are all there.
