ROYAL TOUR ESCORT

Otago To Sail To Fiji (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 11. The frigate, HMN.ZS Otago, now lying alongside at the Devonport Naval Bese, will sail from Auckland on January 28 for Lautoka, in Fiji, where she will join the Royal Yacht Britannia as escort.

Commanded by Commander J. F. McKenzie, the Otago will act as Royal escort for the New Zeeland tour and will be accompanied by one or more of Her Majesty's ships whenever the Queen is on board.

As Fiji is within the limits of the New Zealand naval station, the Otago will begin her duties at Lautoka when the Queen joins the Royal Yacht there.

Her Majesty is flying to Nandi by air. and will drive the 17 miles from the airport to Lautoka to join the Britannia.

From Lautoka, the first part of the escort will be an overnight passage to Suva, where the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will make a brief visit the next day.

From there, the Britannia, with the Otago in company, will make for the Bay of Islands, where they are both due for the Waitangi Treaty ceremony on February 6.
