TWO ROADS CLOSED

More Trouble For Railways

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Jan. 10. Trouble piled on trouble for the Railways Department today when the Slips on the line between Taumarunui a d Matiere were followed by the closing of two of the three roads out of Taumarunui.

The only road left for the transport of rail-car passengers between Taumarunui anl Tbkirima was the river road and it was found that the tunnel on this route wu too narrow for the passage of railway buses. Taxis therefore had to be found to take about 40 passengers. At New Plymouth tonight, the assistant stationmaster, Mr F. Woodward, said: “We hope to get all the taxis we can at Taumarunui. I understand there are eight of them.”

The rail-car at New Plymouth scheduled to do the New Plymouth-Wellington service tomorrow afternoon, left for Tokirima at 6 o'clock tr night Aboard were the Chief Stationmaster at New Plymouth, Mr G. McMillan, a ganger, Mr T. R. Temperton. and a railway engineer from Wanganui.

Speeding is still speeding, even when the accused pleads that he was simply returning his mother-in-law to her home with »U due dispatch.— A Florida traffic court
