Bus Concessions For Aged
Sir, —’’Pensioner" did not submit a soundly based contention in favour of bus concessions for aged persons. Notwithstanding as he believes, that hundreds of aged people are merely existing, week by week, the Transport Board would not be justified in granting sympathetic concessions for thb suggested purpose of enabling them to shop or visit friends and the cinema more frequently than once a week. The pensioner correspondent prompts a question, though: Why hundreds of aged people, during their working years, fail to make provision for supplementing the basic income obtainable from, the State, thereby ensuring the receipt of an overall income, estimated to provide, at least, continuation of their established living standard.— Yours, etc., ANALYSIS.
