AUST.-BUILT MISSILE

Successful Test (N-Z. Prest Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, January 9. The Australian-developed anti-submarine missile Ikara has been successfully tested in trials at Woomera rocket range in South Australia according to defence authorities. Ikara is fired over water to deliver an American-type homing torpedo which is launched from a distance before going underwater to track the target. The homing torpedo has a much longer range than any known similar weapon.
