FLIGHT INTO HIMALAYAS
Plans Of Lady Hillary (NX Pre** Awoeiatio) AUCKLAND. January 9. Lady Hillary will probably into the Himalayan foothills from Katmandu by helicopter next May to join Sir Edmund Hillary towards the end of his expedition to climb Mount Taweche and to build schools for Sherpa children. Sir Edmund Hillary said that he and Lady Hillary planned to set up a camp from which they could study and photograph. Himalayan flowers during the first two weeks of the monsoon rain*. Their camp would be in a valley at an altitude of 11,000 feet at the foot of unclimbed 22.800 feet Mount Numbur.
“I have been through this area before in the early days of the monsoon and it is the most wonderful sight I have ever seen," said Sir Edmund Hillary.
“The rains bring all the flowers into bloom, and there are just square miles of solid flowers everywhere.
“My wife is keen on studying Himalayan flowers and we hope to take some colour photographs during breaks in the monsoon.”
