"Tin Press” Special Service FEUDING. January ». Low prices and frequent passings were the main futures at the thirty-fifth annual sale of stud Southdown rams at rending today. Of a total offering of 129 rams only 59 sold and of the 29 vendors represented at the sale. 16 failed to sell any of their entry. The mccessful sales realised a total of 6765gn5. to return an overall average of llijgns. At the 1982 sale, 88 ram. sold for 10,565gn5. at an average of 139igns. The top price yes** l *®*, ll ™* SlOgns, which was obtained by J. H. Bartlett (Kiwitea) The purchaser was A Kier (Masterton). Mr Bartlett also sold toe second best pricvd ram at 400 gns. and the third best price of 310bw. He also gained the bestindividual average with his 12 rams, which realised 2435gn5. to average SOXgns eacto Last year, W J. Slack (Feildto seU any of the four rams he offered. The second best Individual average was gained by the Darfleld breeder, T. W. Jarman, who sold eight rams for 1155gns to return him an average of 1441 SS E-.SS3 Bros. (Kiwitea), with a lOOgn average tor 17 rams. South Island buyers purchased a number of rams, especially those offered on account of DalSieU Bros, and J. H. Bartlett. Most of toe offering, however, went to the Walrarapa and Taranaki districts. South Island purchases were: DalxieU Bros. (Kiwitea): at 110 gns to H. B. Whyte (Invercargill); at TSgns to T. W. Jamieson (Balclutha). J. H. Bartlett (Kiwitea): at COggna to E. C. Cameron (Onewera); at ICOgns to D. Campion (Ashburton); at TlOgns to R? Miller (Gore). lan M. Rowan (Palmerston Morto); at 90gns to Rippleburn Farm (Bulciutha). F. W. Jarman (Darteld): at 358gns to Lincoln College (Christchurch).
