Bowls FOURS TOURNEY
First Day’s Play Postponed The first day’s play in the Christchurch centre’s Christmas fours competition was cancelled yesterday because of heavy rain in the morning. If the weather improves, play will start at 8.30 a.m. instead of 9 a.m., on the greens originally set down for the second day's play. Four rounds will be played today instead of the scheduled three, and tomorrow also four rounds will be played.
The post-section play, for teams with six or more wins, will be played on Saturday instead of tomorrow.
Tiniaru Tournament Postponed
There was no play yesterday in the South Canterbury centre’s Christmas open fours tournament because greens were affected by overnight rain.
The secretary of the centre (Mr L. F. N. Ward) said it was hoped to begin play today on two full greens, West End and Highfleld. It is possible that the Timaru and Ashbury greens will be used later in the week.
The tourney will end on Saturday. About 32 fours will play each day. The entries, which compare favourably with those of last year, include competitors from Rangiora, Christchurch, Fairlie, Geraldine, Temuka, Waimate, and Dunedin.
