Magician confirmed nearly affl predictions by winning Hie Dunedin Jockey Club's Champagne Stakes ait Wingate! yesterday. Mr H. D. Greenwood’s Faux Tirage colt won decisively by a length and a quarter and paid £1 IQs 6d tor a win and £1 7s for a place. He was Hie shortestpriced winner of the meeting, but that was expected because of his toran. Magician carried £ll4O 10s of a win pool of £2106. ITiis was Magician’s fourth start and his second win. He won Hie Pioneer Handicap on the third day of the New Zealand Cup meeting, and a week earlier he beat all but Hie brilliant Rondabeile in the Welcome Stakes. Magician has now earned £1145.
