Eagan, chairman of the American People-To-People Organisation in New York. A reply is expected early in the New Year. The recommendsrtion has been made by Mr C. A. Spilsted, the boxing entrepreneur who has represented the People-To-Peoplc Committee in visits to New Zealand with American boxers and who last week resigned his appointment as the United States liaison officer for the Auckland Boxing Association. Mr Spilsted has reminded Colonel Eagan of the desirability of acquainting American boxers with overseas conditions before their visit to Tokyo to the OlymgMC Games in the following year. He has suggested that an American sponsor share with a New Zealand sponsor the cost of a visit by a team of American or Golden Gloves champions. Wins His First Pro. Bout (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. D. Murphy, the farmer New Zealand amateur featherweight champion, took less than 20 minutes to score his first professional victory in the opening bout at the Hamilton boxing carnival at Rugby Park tonight. Murphy, weighing 9st, beat the Australian R. Goldrick, Bst 121 b, by a technical knock-out in the eighth and final round. Johnny Halafihi, of Tonga, wants the first fight with Britain's former world middleweight champion, Terry Downes, if Downes enters die light heavy-weight class.
