Cricket YOUNG BATSMEN PROMINENT
Match At Hagley Oval Forceful batting by three of Canterbury's most promising younger batsmen was a feature of a one-innings match between a Christchurch under 20 team and a North Canterbury XI P ayed at Hagley Oval yesterday. The three batsmen. C. J. Stevens (Old Boys). M. Clements (St. Albans), and J. W. Burtt (Boys - High School) played Innings full of merit. Stevens and Clements shared a first-wicket partnership of 113, and Burtt hit 16 fours in his 76 In the North Canterbury Innings. J. Blakely batted soundly for 66. hitting nine fours and two sixes. M. Capstick played some good shots but gave three chances. The bowling of the under 20 side was accurate. For North Canterbury. M.
