FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A large anti-cyclone to the east of the North Island is moving slowly away and a cold front is approaching the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate variable easterlies predominating about the coast, some areas of fog near the coast in the morning and scattered showers in the afternoon; otherwise partly cloudy; warm day temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. Marlborough.—North-westerly winds; cloudy, with mild to warm temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers. Nelson.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds; becoming cloudy by afternoon; a few showers developing later; mild temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Moderate north-easterly winds changing to south-westerlies during the afternoon or evening; cloudy, with some showers; mild temperatures; cooler after the wind change. Outlook: showers.
