Children’s Calf Parade
For the second year in succession Ross Millar of the Clarkville School won the Tai Tapu Central Dairy Company Cup, presented annually for the best calf from boys’ and girls’ agricultural clubs in North Canterbury. Competitors were judged on care and attention, leading and handling, dairy type and on a record book of the rearing of the calf. Wednesday’s competition at the Show Grounds was the culmination of stock parades held by schools and clubs in North Canterbury during the last few weeks. Selected nominations for the cup parade were made by the various groups and 25 competitors were entered. Results were: Ross Millar (Clarkville) 1, Tony Tyson (Clarkville) 2, Alistair Millar (Ohoka) 3, Esme Williams (Ohoka) 4. Mr J. J. Hughey, of Rangiiora, was the judge and the cup was presented by Mr F. J. Miller, a director of the company.
