Parody Of Mr Macmillan

(N.Z -P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK. Dec. 12. A private group in London has made a recording featuring the British Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) as a pop singer. They were encouraged by the success of an American record parodying President Kennedy. The New York show business weekly “Variety’' reported that a London bookstore sold 100 copies of the private recording in 36 hours. “Harold Macmillan Sings” is one of five numbers on the disc. “Variety” said that the group picked up a tape of Mr Macmillan at a recent Conservative Party conference in North Wales at which the Prime Minister himself delivered a lilitingly spoken parody of “She Didn’t Say Yes. . . This was spliced into a rock and twist guitar background with the usual “Yea. Yea, Whoa, . Whoa” chorus.
