Lonsborough, who won three swimming gold medals at the Empire Games in Perth, have been voted Britain's sportsman and sportswoman of 1962 by the British Sports Writers’ Association. Kilby won the Empire, European and British marathons. Miss Lonsborough won the 110 yards and 220 yards breaststroke and 440 yards individual medley titles in Perth.
