CHRISTMAS TREE SALES
Needy Children To Benefit
The Christchurch Round Table and the Ashburton Round Table will combine tomorrow to sell Christmas trees. The proceeds will go to needy children. There was a heavy demand for trees last year, and members of the tables will begin cutting at dawn tomorrow. Some members 'will rise at 3 a.m. The first loads will be brought into Christchurch to 21 selling sites which have been selected to give as wide a coverage of Christchurch as possible. They extend from Riccarton to New Brighton and as far afield as Lyttelton. -Selling sites will be in radio contact with the plantation where trees are cut, so it is hoped to keep the supply ahead of the demand. The trees are young pines selected specially for their suitability for Christmas decoration. and each purchaser will receive a written instruction on the proper care of the tree. The proceeds will be applied in the main to the Save the Children Fund. A small balance will be allocated to each round table participating. to use to assist needy children in its own district.
