Alleged Theft Of Documents | (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 13. Robert Evan Pearson, aged 59, a clerk, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial today by Mr W. J. Meade, S.M., on a charge of stealing confidential documents and papers belonging to B.P. (New Zealand) Ltd. and on one charge of extortion. Pearson pleaded not guilty at a preliminary hearing in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland. An order suppressing the evidence was made by the Magistrate. The charges were that on August 27, 1962, at Auckland. Pearson did with menaces demand from a man £5OO with intent to steal it. The theft charge was that between August 16, 1961. and August 9, 1962, being a servant of B.P. Pearson did steal 90 confidential papers and documents belonging to the company. Pearson was allowed bail of £l5O with a surety for £l5O.
