Wife Given Choice Of 3 Ways To Die

LONDON, December 12. The daughter of a British member of Parliament jumped from a first floor window after her husband had given her a choice of three ways to die, a Divorce Court judge said today.
T. . woman, Mrs Hilary Clarry, aged 25, daughter of Mr Alan Green, joint Minister of State at the Board of Trade, fractured a bone in her back. The Judge, Mr Justice Baker, said her husband's cruelty to his wife began after he found two letters from a man friend. The husband had locked her in a room and had given her the choice of being strangled, gassed or falling on to a carving knife, the Judge said. Two Hours to Live M: Norman Clarry told his wife she had only two hours to live and said: ‘‘l am goint to play with you as a cat does with a mouse and you know what happens to the mouse in the end.” Two hours later Mrs Clarry jumped from the window while her husband was watching a boxing match on television. The “Daily Sketch” said Mrs Clarry after leaping from the window had been carried back upstairs by her husband. A doctor was called and she was admitted to hospital for 12 days with her back in a cast. The Judge said it was a dramatic almost unbelievable story, the newspaper reported. The Court granted Mrs
Clarry a decree nisi on the ground of cruelty. Discretion was exercised in respect of the wife’s admitted adultery. Mrs Clarry admitted an association with a Mr Kevin Isherwood. a guest she met at a hotel, the “Daily Mail” reported.
