Admiral Tyree Entertained (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Dec. 11. Of the 14 members of Parliament who have visited the Antarctic as guests of the American Antarctic Operation 11 were in Parliament Buildings this evening as hosts to the retiring commander of the operation, RearAdmiral D. M. Tyree. Also at the cocktail party at which the Parliamentarians entertained the admiral were the United States Ambassador (Mr A. B. Akers) and the former commander (RearAdmiral G. Dufek). The first member of Parliament to visit the Antarctic, in 1957, was the Minister of Transport (Mr McAlpine), but he was not able to attend so the earliest Antarctic traveller among the rpembers was the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand).
