Balloting At Rangiora Capacity fields will parade in all but the Coldstream Handicap, which has drawn a field of 13, at the Rangiora Trotting Club’s annual meeting on Saturday. Altogether the chib received more than 256 acceptances, but more than 100 horses had to be balloted out to reduce fields to the safety limit and 157 horses will get a start on Saturday. The difficulty facing the connexions ot maiden pacers was emphasised when the club decided to run the Maiden Handicap in divisions and start a maximum of 32 horses. More than 32 horses had to be balloted out. Heavy lists of nominations have been received for all maiden events which will be decided during the holidays and most owners wild have to contend with balloting as well as starting their horses in division races. In addition most owners and trainers will be faced with the expense of extensive travelling to obtain much racing for tiheir horses.
