MACHINERY AT QUARRY
Report To Be Made On Disposal
There seemed to be a glut of quarry and earth-moving machinery at present, said Mr J. A. Cashin, the engin-eer-in-chief, yesterday when asked by Mr L. G. Amos at the Lyttelton Harbour Board meeting what was planned now that work at the board's quarry was nearing an end. Mr Cashin said he had been looking into the matter for 12 to 18 months. Tentatively, he thought it would be better to have a sale of the plant; but the latest sale prices were 10 per cent, of the new prices.
The machinery was kept in good condition, but the economic life of the machinery -was usually looked on as five years’ working. "I would like a definite plan for disposal,” said Mr Amos. “There are thousands of pounds worth of machinery tied up there. If we can’t sell it. could we hire it out as we had to hire other machinery.” The board accepted Mr Amos’s motion that Mr Cashin should report on the disposal.
Corsair Bay Raft
