De Gaulle “Obstinate”
(Ji.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, December 5. The “Daily Mail” said today that President de Gaulle seemed determined to block Britain’s membership of the European Common Market. In an editorial, the “Daily Mail” said: “The world is asking whether one of the greatest conceptions of modern times is to be ruined by the hidebound obstinacy of one old man. "The conception is one of the European community or Common Market, to include Britain. “The old man is President de Gaulle, who seems determined to block this country's membership.”
