Mr C. B. Millar, the new director of planning of the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority, will arrive in the city tomorrow from Southern Rhodesia. Mr Millar, a Scot, has been appointed to replace Miss Nancy Northcroft, who left the authority recently to go into private practice. He is a member of the Town Planning Institute of Great Britain and has been in Rhodesia since 1960 as town planning officer for the Salisbury region in the Government's town planning department Mr M. Butterick, who is retiring from the Christchurch Vocational Guidance Centre after nine years' service, was honoured at a function at the centre yesterday. A presentation was made by colleagues. Mr Butterick has been acting district vocational guidance officer this year.

Mr C. D. Matthews, of Blenheim, has been reelected to the Rabbit Destruction Council. The result of a postal ballot for the election of a member of the council for three years was announce! at a meeting of the executive of the So<-th Island Rabbit Boards’ Association in . Christchurch yesterday. The other nominee for the position was Mr H. L. Stokes, formerly of Central Otago and now of Timaru.
