INJURED BULLER ATHLETES
Two Out Of Action For A Month (From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, November 26. Two of the Westport athletes who were involved in a car accident on Saturday when on their way to a sports meeting in Greymouth, will be unfit to compete in any sports meeting for a month. They are G. Morris and E. McGuire, the Buller and Canterbury, and Otago halfmile title holders, respectively. Both suffered cuts and muscle injuries when the car in which they were travelling skidded in loose gravel and struck a bridge near Mawhera-iti. r Miss Robin Mason, another member of the party who suffered cuts in the accident, is likely to be out of action in women’s athletic events for at least a fortnight. The fourth member of the party, Miss R. Albrett, Buller and Canterbury sprint champion, will not be affected by the slight injuries she sustained in the accident. All four athletes were to have competed at Christchurch next Saturday, but the trip has now been cancelled. The loss of the leading distance runners at this stage of the season will be a serious loss to the Westport club, as the other competitors in that section are of moderate class.
