NAVAL TRAINING LAUNCH
Return After Refitting H.M.N.ZS. Pegasus, the training sea tender of the Canterbury division. Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, will return to Lyttelton from the naval dockyard Auckland, on December The launch. which also plays a role as part of the Canterbury search and rescue organisation, has been undergoing an extensive refit Navigational radar, new types of compasses, echo sounding gear, additional radio-telephone equipment, and a new type of inflatable life raft have been fitted. The 72ft launch will sail from Auckland on December 9 with a naval volunteer reserve crew. She will call at Wellington and Gisborne. Next year the launch will carry out week-end training and assist in the training of sea cadets.
