Greymouth’s Claim

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Nov. 25.

Miss Melody Ann Coleman, New Zealand’s winner of the first gold medal at the Empire Games at Perth on Friday received ail her primary school education in Greymouth where her father, Mr F. W. Coleman was on the staff of the Blaketown School before being appointed headmaster of the Cobden School in 1947. The family moved to Invercargill and then to Auckland. Interested in music Miss Coleman attended the Convent of Mercy in Greymouth. She received much encouragement from her father who took a very active part In organising school musical festivals in the district.
