Car “Mashes” Potatoes

NAPIER, Nov. 20. When the accelerator pedal jammed on a car being parked by a 72-year-old Wellington man, Mr T. G. Roberta, in Emerson stree.t Napier, thia afternoon, the ear mounted the footpath, ripped a parking meter oat of the ground, pushed a new ear parked tai front into the rear of a lorry and came to rest touching a Chinese fruiterer’s window on top of a pile of “mashed” potatoes.
One of the passengers of the car pwriied into the track was a cripple but she had jnst entered the fruit shop before the incident.
Apart treat the driver of the ear. the person noct shocked by the notoe of the erash was the owner of the ahep, Mr A. Fann, who had ef b ettr phngtaf O- —H- Mlj— I- Ml lint the ear was stopped by the boxes ef potatoes. No-one was injured.
