OCEAN PEAK DISCOVERED

Echo-Sounding In Endeavour (NX. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 19. An uncharted ocean peak was discovered by the new Antarctic supply ship. Endeavour. during her voyage from San Francisco to Auckland. The ship is fitted with an echo-sounder capable of tracing the bottom to a depth of 6000 fathoms. “We were cruising along an unsounded track from about four degrees north of the equator,” said her captain (Commander J. Lennox-King). “The echosounder was recording a steady level 3000 fathoms when it suddenly rose very rapidly to 800 fathoms and then dropped back again.” The Endeavour’s finding will be reported to the hydrographic branch of the Admiralty.
