Midland yesterday retained its lead in the senior cricket competition. Other outright wins were recorded by Wellington College Old Boys, Karorl and Kilbirnie. Scores were:— W.C.0.8. 118 and 233 for six declared (P. J. B. Young 111. A. H. Preston 80; B. A. G. Murray three for 47. J. B. Park three for 88) beat University 211 for eight declared and 121 (G. M. Aim 59, Murray 44; J. S. Perkins five for 46, Preston four for 24). Midland 224 for six declared and 166 (I. B. Pollard 63; R. F. Broom five for 56, T. Martindale three for 25) beat Wellington 174 (G. P. Bilby 58, M. Hughes 38; N. Huxford four for 71) and 200 (G. A. Snowden 40, J. Herbert 39, J. A. L. Gibson 38. T. G. McMahon 35, M. Graham six for 48). Karorl 136 and 246 (P. H. Standidge 46. W. M. Loewenthal 42, R. J. Beveridge 30, W. F. Smith 30; A. P. White three for 67 H. A. Morgan three for 67) beat St. Patrick’s Old Boys 204 and 74 (G. W. McLellan 31; D. L. Paetz seven for 14, T. P. O'Neil three for 41). Kilbirnie 195 for five declared and seven for none beat Onslow 56 and 143 (P. J. Edmondson 67 not out; L. C. Butler four for 34).
