Obituary CANON F. W. YOUNG
(HZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 18. Canon Frederick William Young, the oldest Anglican priest in the Auckland diocese, died in Auckland today. He was 97. Canon Young, who was born hear Christchurch, graduated B.A. and was a schoolteacher before he turned to the ministry. He was ordained a deacon in 1898 and a priest two years later. His first parish was at Okato, Taranaki, which was then part of the Auckland diocese. He was then at various other parishes in the diocese and was at Milford when he retired at the age of 73. After his retirement he carried on part-time work until he was 86.
Canon Young is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren.
