Ohoka Woman Wins

“Understanding and the human touch” won for Mrs M. Madelqy, of Ohoka, the Topper Cup for her essay on “The Place of the Country Womens* Institute in a Changing World.” This 1* the second year In succession that the Ohoka Institute has won the cup. Last year, the president, Mrs G. G. Cottle, won with a floral arrangement

The competition, which started in 1957, is entered by members of the North Canterbury Federation. Mr* Madeiey is a keen amateur writer and for many year* she ba* written poetry for a hobby and small piece* for the institute. Her essay beat nine other entries and gained 22 of a possible 25 points.
