Daring Theft From Hotel

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 7.

The licensee of the Clevedon Hotel, Mr M. Hart, woke at 4.30 a.m. today to find an intruder bending over his bed. Mr Hart chased the man through the hotel, but he got into a car driven by another man and raced away. The intruder also stole liquor and money from the bar before ransacking the living premises of the hotel. "My wife woke me,” said Mr Hart. “He was standing over the bed." The man took two watches from Mr Hart’s bedside table. He estimated the missing goods to be worth about £ 190.
