Obituary MR K. H. FOUNTAIN
Mr K. Howell Fountain who practised as a dental surgeon in Canterbury from 1906 to 1955 died in Christchurch last week. He was 81. Mr Fountain was born in Wellington but spent his youth in Auckland. He was farming in the Gisborne area in his early twenties, but left farming to qualify as a dental surgeon and began practice in Akaroa in 1906. In 1911 he moved to Christchurch where he practised until 1955.
Deeply interested in Christian work, Mr Fountain was a member of the Open Brethren but his interest covered many interdenominational organisations such as the China Island Mission and the Crusader movement. Mr Fountain is survived by his wife, who was Mrs Bertha Dearsly, three sons, and a daughter, Mrs Peter Tovey, of Pakistan.
