Suggestion From Players

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 5

The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has been asked by the International Professional Lawn Tennis Players' Association to suggest dates and programme for matches tn a world series tn New Zealand next year. A letter tabled at tonight's meeting of the committee suggested the holding of two matches each at Auckland. Wellington and Christchurch, and asked whether these cities could carry a two-day event. The letter also said It was not possible to name the contestants yet. The management committee will advise the Players’ Association it considers more appearances in different centres rather than concentration In three centres for matches is preferable. Late February-early March will be suggested as the best time to tour.

Nine associations, including Canterbury, have indicated to the New Zealand association that they would be willing to hold matches among professionals provided the teams are more favourable to the association's than they have been in previous years.

The national association recently wrote to the Players' Association saytng that a number of matches could be held under the following terms:—The professionals to be reponslble for all travel and accommodation; the associations to be responsible for all costs of holding and advertising the matches; the gross gate resulting from the tour be split without deduction. 50 per cent, to the players and 50 per cent, to the N.Z.L.T.A.; no guarantees whatever be placed on any appearances tn any centre. The national association's management committee feels that in view of the dissatisfaction expressed by associations there must be an Increase in the percentage which individual associations received. It has also been suggested that four players of a suitable standard would have as much drawing capacity as the six suggested.

The players named were M Davies. L. Ayala. A. Olmedo, A. Glmeno. B. Mackay and E. Buchholz.
