Yemeni Aircraft Bomb Town Across Border

Yemeni aircraft yesterday bombed and rocketstrafed Asaeflan, a town in the Britiah-protected State of Beihan, killing a child and destroying two houses, an Aden Government statement said. The Yemeni aeroplanes were said to be an Ilyushin bomber and MiG jet fighters, all Soviet-built. The town of Assesilan Is about 18 miles from the south-east border of Yemen, and about 170 miles from Aden. Beihan is a member of the British-sponsored Federation of South Arabia, established in a London conference recently by 11 States in the Aden Protectorate. Yemeni Republican broadcasts recently have spoken of fighting on the Beihan border, and said that Beihan forces were using heavy British weapons —‘ supplied through Aden against Yemeni troops. Patrols of Royal Air Force Hunter jet fighters over the western Aden Protectorate have been increased, a spokesman of headquarters. Middle East Command, said in Aden today. ported yesterday from Sanaa, Yemen, that Yemeni authorities had arrested all the tribal sheikhs who helped Imam Mohammed Al-Badr escape the country. The agency said that they would be brought to trial before a military court The Imam escaped to the Washa region on the eve of September 27 after revolting army units had bombed his Bashir palace, and the Washa sheikhs granted him refuge and helped him escape, the agency said.
