Christmas Stamp

Sir, The Post Office authorities deserve a word of praise for this year’s Christmas stamp, which is, artistically, a great improvement on the previous issues. The colouring is better and they have not tried to put too much on the stamp. But since there have been some objections it might be wiser next time to portray the Madonna and Child. Any of the works of the great masters, eg., Giotto, Giovanni, Bellini, Della Robbia, Raphael, would make a handsome stamp.—Yours, etc., PHILATELIST. October 17, 1962.
